Nordic Museum Overview

The National Nordic Museum is centrally located in the historic Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, WA. Situated on NW Market Street near the world-famous Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, the Nordic is located fifteen minutes from downtown Seattle. OSBERG GREAT HALL: Understated grandeur is featured in the all-wooden details of Hemlock and Douglas Fir in the Osberg Great Hall. Pendant lights delicately draped from the ceiling overhead illuminate 4,200 square feet of acoustically tuned dance floor, banquet, and multipurpose space. SUN TERRACE: Situated with waterfront views and historic Ballard charm not too far from the famous Ballard Fisherman’s Terminal, the Sun Terrace, with southern exposures,is a strikingly modern outdoor space. This space can accommodate a 40 x 70ft tent. FJORD HALL: Sunlight floats in from 40-foot-tall windows and skylights in the Fjord Hall, casting a brilliant luster on the architecture’s poetic design that is reminiscent of the ocean water and glacial origins, honoring the fjords of the Nordic region! NORDIC 3rd FLOOR LOUNGE: Comes with glittering evening views of the iconic Ballard waterfront to the south, as well as an outdoor deck that overlooks the Sun Terrace. This is an ideal space from medium sized group meetings, VIP receptions, or private dinners. EAST GARDEN: With a Viking long boat to spark curiosity, emblematic birch trees, our newly restored Finnish Sauna, and a pleasant grassy lawn--your next outdoor or tented event in our garden will speak to PNW and Nordic outdoor sensibilities! CLASSROOMS: Oversized display screens help to make your next class, group meeting, or gathering even simpler! Our classrooms also have large windows looking out onto NW Market Street.Classroom catering is provided for by the Museum’s café,Freya, making meetings of all sizes easy and relaxed in our classrooms! CRAFTROOM: Featuring a useful mud-sink, polished concrete floors, large windows facing the south, and direct access to the Sun Terrace--our Craft Room is a versatile space that unlocks unique possibilities for artists, and classes for all ages. CULTURAL RESOURCE CENTER: Our research library is full of rich information about Nordic history, allowing for a one-of-a-kind space for discussion groups, small lectures, book releases or document signings.
