In August 2001 the Middleburg Heights Community Center was featured in USA Today as one example of upscale facilities that is redefining the concept of community recreation centers. This came as no surprise to residents. After all, the center had already been named Most Outstanding New Center by the Ohio Parks & Recreation Association a few months after its May 2000 opening.
