Oregon Wedding Venues
Oregon is known for it's lush vegetation and mossy enchanted forests made possible by the tremendous amounts of rainfall. People also associate the state with the residents' free spirited tendencies demonstrated by efforts towards increased sustainability and local, organic food. Oregon wedding venues reflect the state's uniqueness with options such as sustainably operated event centers and vast public green spaces and gardens. Portland is the state's largest city. It's known for its motto, “Keep Portland Weird,” which demonstrates its support for the local businesses that make the city unique and exciting. Creativity abounds in this rainy city as demonstrated by its monthly arts festival and various hipster shenanigans. It is possible to find traditional wedding venues, however, as the city has an abundance of historic locations including chapels, theaters and hotels.
Willamette Valley includes Portland, but also extends to Salem, which is the state's capital, and the college towns of Eugene and Corvallis. Each town is considered a cultural haven in it's own right and each has it's own unique artsy flavor. Salem is known as “Tree City USA“ for the gorgeous blossoms of its cherry trees, which would make a lovely backdrop for wedding photos. Venues in the Willamette Valley include theaters, a funky public market, and several vineyards, and most venues in this region are moderately priced.
Southern Oregon's major cities are Medford, Ashland and Grants Pass, though all are still fairly small cities. Medford is known for it's excellent pears and great golf courses. Ashland boasts the world famous Oregon Shakespeare festival and is well known as another one of Oregon’s hippie cities. Grants Pass has incredible art galleries and sits on the gorgeous Rogue River. Bend is the city in the heart of Central Oregon and has long winters that have led to the growth of a few major ski resorts. Some of the highest priced venues are in Central Oregon, though there are plenty of moderately priced options for the couple on a budget as well. Get hitched with a rustic mountain wedding at ranch or a lodge or plan a more elegant affair at a classy resort!
Coastal Oregon is dotted with quaint little towns, but a few that especially stand out are Astoria, Lincoln City and Reedsport. Astoria is both close to the Pacific and on the Columbia River. Victorian era homes overlook the coast of this charming fishing village. Lincoln city is known for its surfing and kite festivals. Reedsport is another fishing village and has incredible mountains overlooking the coast. Hotels, casinos and resorts offer prime locations to say your vows and enjoy a relaxing seaside honeymoon.

Wedding venue prices generally range between $2,500 to $20,000 for 100 guests. Taking advantage of Oregon's parks and nature reserves for your ceremony may offer even lower rates. Intimate historic venues as well as barn, farm, and ranch properties are more affordable options for Oregon wedding ceremonies and receptions. Oregon has no sales tax, but be prepared to pay an 18% to 21% service fee and 15% to 20% gratuity.
Information and Resources for Weddings in Oregon
In order to obtain a marriage license in Oregon both parties must present a valid driver's license, passport or birth certificate and a social security number. Both parties must apply in person. You must pay between $50 and $60 depending on the county to obtain a marriage license in Oregon.There is a three day waiting period between the time the license is received until the wedding can take place, though a couple can pay for a waiver to avoid the wait.
