Historic Woodend Sanctuary & Mansion offers a charming grove for outdoor ceremonies, and the use of the mansion and adjacent tented terrace for 170 guests from Apr-Nov, and 120 guests from Dec-Mar.

Our climate-controlled tented terrace and the Great Hall are excellent alternatives for the ceremony.

Part of the rental fee is considered a donation to the Audubon Naturalist Society and is tax-deductible, no sales.

Built in 1927, Woodend was designed by John Russell Pope (Jefferson Memorial, DAR Constitution Hall, National Gallery of Art, etc.) for the Wells family and in 1969 it was donated to the Audubon Naturalist Society.

Located 9 miles from DC, Woodend is a secluded property yet very close to the city and major airports.

Woodend has a beautiful grove for your outdoor ceremony. Our climate-control tent is adjacent to the house and is a great back-up plan in case of inclement weather. The ceremony areas, as well as the tent, are included in the rental fee. The tent comes with all accessories you may need (chandeliers, liner, side panels, fans and heaters, as well as air conditioning from Jun-Sep).

You can BYO alcohol and the caterer will not charge you corkage. They provide a licensed bartender so you don't have to worry about liquor license.

We have two staging areas, one for each of you, large enough to accommodate your wedding parties. There is plenty of on-site parking. We are located 9 miles from downtown DC in a private and secluded 40-acre nature sanctuary.
