Strand Book Store Overview

Rare at Strand offers exclusive access to one of the most iconic bookstores in the world. The Rare Book Room boasts an elegant venue, the walls lined with leather-bound treasures from a book hand printed in 1480 to a limited edition Ulysses signed by Henri Matisse, the illustrator, and by James Joyce. Our unique space can accommodate any event: an intimate wedding, a funky baby shower, a sophisticated cocktail party, or a cozy holiday gathering. Immerse your guests in Strand’s finest and rarest book collection during your next affair! Rare at Strand events welcomes seated dinners for up to 100 people and cocktail receptions for up to 175 people. Rates start at $1,000 per hour and are subject to change depending on the season. Rare@Strand can also provide: A/V Support Tables, Chairs, Podium, and Stage Rental On-Site Event Staff Access to a half-kitchen & two separate dressing/wedding suites Alternate Lighting Optional Security

Venue Notes

Rare Book Room rentals start at $1,000 per hour between 7:00pm and 11:00pm, 7 days a week, with a minimum engagement of 3 hours (i.e. $3,000 rental fee per event). Event hours can extend until 12:30am for events for an additional fee of $2,000/hr. Rates include assistance of Events Director or Assistant, four (4) leather armchairs, all rare book room display tables (must be covered), access to half-kitchen and two (2) separate wedding dressing suites. Additional fees apply for peak hours, alternate lighting, A/V equipment, chair rental, and optional security. Please contact venue for more details.
