Built over two centuries ago as a place for refined entertainment, the Powel House continues to lend itself to elegant functions that are both beautiful and comfortable in a location central to Philadelphia's Society Hill. Your wedding is sure to be a successful occasion at Powel. An outstanding example of Georgian architecture, the first floor's dining room and parlor adjoin the passage, featuring one of the most elegant colonial mahogany staircases. The second floor highlights the beautiful rococo ballroom. Also, in the adjacent parlor is yet another elegant setting for cocktails, conversations, and dining. The period garden, reached through the house or via a gate on Third Street, may also be rented. The House may be used for a seated luncheon or dinner reception for a small gathering, or for a cocktail-style reception for a slightly larger crowd. You may bring your guests outside into the gardens for dancing after your celebration. Flexible set up start time. Early morning can be arranged. Events must end by 10:00PM.
The rental fee ranges from $900 to $2,000 for a ceremony and reception and includes 4 hours of event time excluding set up and clean up time. Additional hours can be arranged for a fee of $250/hr to $500/hr. A refundable security deposit of $1,000 is required. Please inquire with venue for outdoor reception tent rentals through a third party vendor. Please note that if your guest count exceeds the indoor capacity for ceremonies and/or receptions a tent MUST be reserved at the time of booking from our exclusive tent provider. The tent does NOT have to be used if the weather cooperates with your outdoor event.
