Located in a tree-lined neighborhood of Northeast Portland, McMenamin’s Kennedy School is the perfect, century-old landmark with a charmingly unique and historic atmosphere for your fun, lively wedding. The building’s 1915 Italian Renaissance architecture and former life as an old grade school—complete with original chalkboards—results in an eclectic ambience perfect for a cool and inviting space to share with your family and friends. The school provides different space options, including the old gymnasium and courtyard. Exquisitely detailed with large windows and skylights, the gymnasium’s open dance floor creates a sunny, inviting space, while the distinct star lighting fixtures maintain the vintage feel. The courtyard is surrounded by lush greenery and paved with cobblestones, making it perfect for a welcoming, intimate ceremony. Additionally, the Boiler Room, another option for the reception, furthers the overall eclectic atmosphere with an industrial feel complete with metal banisters, exposed brick and a mixture of metal and stained glass lighting—a space perfect for your guests to share a pint. Exposed wood ceiling beams, quirky plants and statues, and colorful artwork placed intermittently in the Boiler Room further add to the distinctively vintage and eccentric feel of McMenamin’s Kennedy School.

Rental Fees

There is no rental fee for a ceremony and reception but there is a food and beverage minimum applied to all events. The venue allows 5 hours of event time excluding set up and clean up time. The fee for a ceremony-only wedding ranges from $1,550 to $4,500.
