The creative chef and renowned culinary innovator Jose Andres who dreamt up familiar lively restaurants like Oyamel, China Chilcano, and Jaleo is the creator behind America Eats Tavern. This Georgetown eatery puts a unique touch on the All-American classics we know and love. True to Chef Andres’ well-known flare for vibrant art, the tavern displays patriotic murals throughout, but not all are star-spangles displays. Some are reminiscent of interstate highways, national landmarks, and western cultural icons. The downstairs scene is that of a classic American diner entirely carved out of wood. A massive, fully stocked bar is balanced by a line of two top hi-boys and a row of cozy diner booths nestled beneath a huge wooden arch. The upstairs space is casual and it’s clear that the focus is on dining. America Eats Tavern can accommodate groups of any size.
