What was once a library in the Brookland neighborhood is now a unique eatery, Smith Public Trust. Brought to you by the team behind Smith Commons on H Street, Smith Public Trust is a vibrant, restaurant and bar with industrial flair. The space is characterized by exposed brick walls and steel beams, a vibrant mural and contributing art by street artist Gaia, and mixed seating, including vintage leather lounge pieces and an old church pew. But it has so much more to offer than it’s furnishings and 40-foot bar repurposed from a giant shipping container. The kitchen serves a menu that lists more items meant to be eaten with your hands than a fork. Enjoy street tacos, burgers, nachos, and spring rolls by hand, or pick up the utensils and cut into a chicken and red velvet waffles dish or some colossal shrimp and grits. Maximum capacity for Smith Public Trust is approximately 150 seated guests.
