Located in Carey, Ohio, the congregation’s original wooden Shrine Church was built in 1875, while the impressive red-brick Byzantine-style Basilica located across the street was constructed in 1924. The Basilica, operated by the Conventual Franciscan Friars, is a minor basilica of the Roman Catholic Church and a shrine to the Virgin Mary. It is also the site of an annual pilgrimage for the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. The versatile Shrine Cafeteria, built in 1966 to serve Our Lady of Consolation’s many pilgrims, offers a lovely space in which to celebrate the most important day of your life. Featuring a neutral color palette and an open floor plan, this spacious dining area can be decorated and transformed into the elegant wedding venue of your dreams.
