Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Golden Gate Bridge and all of San Francisco, the Legion of Honor museum is most noted for its enchanting setting. Immerse your guests in a world of old-world grandeur, color, and art as they take in the neoclassical architecture among views of the city; and explore collections of statues, paintings, prints and drawings. Hold your intimate ceremony in the Legion’s Court of Honor, a dazzling open space, with columns around the perimeter and a bronze cast of August Rodin’s Thinker in the middle. After the ceremony, guests can move through all of the galleries for private viewing during your cocktail hour. Meanwhile, you and your bridal party can pose for pictures amidst the columns and on the various steps and staircases of the museum. The entire celebration is moved indoors to end the night with artwork, drinks, dinner, and dancing.

Time Restrictions

Ceremony on lawn can begin as early as 6:00pm, all other areas can begin at 6:30pm. Events must end by 1:00AM.

Rental Fees

The rental fee ranges from $9,000 to $25,000, with an average Saturday wedding around $14,000. This includes 4 hours of event time, with additional time for set up and clean up. For up to 150 guests, there are a few spaces that can be combined for your wedding day. The event can begin with a ceremony in either the Court of Honor or on the Balustrade Lawn overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. Then an indoor reception often starts with a cocktail hour in the Rodin Galleries, and ends with a seated dinner and dancing in the Café/Terrace. For groups of 200+ guests to 400 guests, the rental rates are around $29,000 for an Entire Museum rental, and a tent is needed in the Court of Honor for an additional fee. In addition to the rental rates, all other food, beverage, and equipment rentals are provided by one of the caterers on our approved caterers list, and the catering costs will account for most of the event budget. Other fees required are: $3,000 refundable security deposit. Event insurance provided by an approved company $450. For all catering companies other than McCall Catering, a $1,000 release of liquor license is required. Additional hours can be arranged for a fee of around $2,000 per hour until 1am.
