5 of Our Favorite Trends From Fall 2018’s New York Bridal Fashion Week
It’s no secret that Bridal Fashion Week in New York is one of our favorite times of the year. After all, the dress is a central component of almost any wedding. What’s coming around the corner for next year’s brides? Here are some of the trends we loved watching walk down the runways in Fall 2018.
Inspired by the sophisticated modesty of Meghan Markle's now iconic wedding dress, many wedding dresses this year featured high necklines and clean lines. The elegant simplicity and fine tailoring of this trend creates a timeless sense of style that looks like it was plucked straight out of the royal ceremony at St. George’s Chapel.
Puffy poet-style sleeves, balloon sleeves, and long draped sleeves that are reminiscent of gentler times made multiple appearances on the runway this year. This wonderfully femme trend channels the beauty of costume dramas and Shakespearean plays.
The bow is a classic bridal fashion detail for a reason. While the bow will always make an appearance on the runways, many designers chose to use bows both small and large on their dresses. You can find this feature in a spectrum of sizes, ranging from giant centerpiece bows that simply can’t be ignored to dainty bows carefully placed as elegant details.
It turns out that capes are the new veil! This dramatic look is gaining traction on bridal fashion runways. Practical for fall and winter weddings, donning a dress with a flowing cape or capulet is a sure way to turn heads. You can even remove the cape or capulet to sport a different look between your ceremony and reception.
Riding off of the jumpsuit trend that has been infiltrating everyday wear for the last through years, pants have finally begun making a splash in bridal fashion. Ideal for the “do it differently” bride or the bride that simply doesn’t love dresses, a pair of sleek wedding pants or a fancy white jumpsuit is the perfect pick.
