The Oakland House is a completely restored mansion built in 1853 by Louis A. Benoist, a pioneer banker. The house is owned and maintained by the Affton Historical Society whose 'Brick and Mortar' gang did the restoration starting back in the 1970s. Oakland is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is recorded by the Historic American Buildings Survey of the U.S. Department of Interior in the Library of Congress.
