Positioned in the heart of downtown Washington on I Street, the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue offers brides and grooms an enchanting and historical space to host a memorable wedding and reception. Situated a few blocks from the Metro Station, this venue features a convenient location and is an ideal choice for couples with traveling guest to consider. Constructed with breathtaking architecture and countless details of cultural charm, the Synagogue includes two unique spaces to utilize for your wedding day. Equipped with an intimate Sanctuary, this space features a 105 year old design with historic pews, warm wood accents, and plenty of romantic appeal. After you exchange your vows, head over to the Social Hall, which features a full kitchen and a open floor plan design for a lively celebration with family and friends. Best suited for medium to large size guests lists, the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue provides ample space to comfortably accommodate all of your loved ones for your special day.

Venue Notes

The rental fee is $1,000 for a ceremony and reception on Saturdays and Sundays for 6 hours of event time excluding set up and cleanup and $500/hr to $750/hr on weekdays. The fee for a ceremony ranges from $3,000 to $4,000 on Saturdays and Sundays or $750/hr to $1,000/hr on weekdays. Additional hours can be arranged for a fee of $250/hr. A refundable security deposit of $500 is required. The kitchen is completely Kosher, therefore any caterers must be Kosher certified. Non-Kosher vegetarian is permitted with NO access to the kitchen. If self-catering and using kitchen, all food must be marked kosher must be vegetarian food. (Vegetarian includes fish but no shellfish). The officiant doesn't have to be a Rabbi but ceremony must be a jewish ceremony or an interface ceremony with both jewish and of another religion and can not be entirely secular. When there is an interfaced ceremony, the officiant does need to be a Rabbi.

Requirements

- Alcohol must be served by licensed bartender/caterer- Amplified music OK indoors only- Approved outside caterer allowed- BYO alcohol- Food in kitchen must be kosher or vegetarian (no shellfilsh)- Music must end by 2:00AM- No rice, birdseed, confetti, etc.- Smoking outside only- Venue must approve all decorations
