James Monroe's Highland is a charming site to host your wedding celebration. This historic site, the home of President James Monroe, is located in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia. The venue offers a variety of ceremonial sites: John's Garden, the formal garden behind the Highland house, a manicured floral space. The Peacock Yard, bordered with small boxwoods and shaded by a large ash tree, creates a natural archway that is is beautiful for large ceremonies. For your reception the Highland has a lovely Event Barn. The barn has two floors and handsomely showcases the stone wall interior and high wooden rafter ceilings. This rustic space is absolutely stunning with the addition of simple flowers and candles. It is a lovely site to dine and dance into the evening while viewing nearby mountains and pastures. For those seeking an outdoor reception Highland has a Hilltop Pavilion. This covered area keeps you and your guests close to nature and ready to dance under the stars. Rental Fees

The rental fee ranges from $2,800 to $7,500 for a ceremony and reception and includes 13 hours of rental time including set up and clean up time. A refundable security deposit of $500 is required. A portion of the rental fee is a philanthropic tax-deductible donation, which goes directly toward the funding of restoration projects for the historic estate of President James Monroe.
